The
home of the free
because of the brave
"...we do have electricity (220). We have no cooking ability.
I am particularly concerned for one female soldier who seems to
be getting depressed each passing day. She does not have a lot
of family and has received no correspondence since our arrival.
A lot of our soldiers are first time parents who had to leave
their babies and are having a hard time with it. No special
requests. Letters alone would be nice. I just want the
soldiers to know people care. A couple of soldiers in my
section have complained about the inability to get shower shoes,
so that would be nice."

Among the recurring themes you might find in my monthly
newsletters gratitude for our soldiers is always present. Every
day I put a basket outside the store. The basket is for ANY
donation that one might want to leave for our soldiers serving
overseas. I leave a list of items that are most requested (it
can be as inexpensive as a read book) and I also leave Thank You
note cards and pens that any person may fill out and leave
inside the store for me to ship over. Since the day I opened
the store the basket has been there for anyone to add a
donation.
I'll be honest - over the last six months the donations have
been close to zero ... and even though I leave FREE thank you
notes I have been averaging maybe two to three a month. A few
days ago I started packing up a shipment of books that my mom
gave me and, as I was looking through the Anysoldier.com entries
for a unit to send them to I came across the above entry. It
broke my heart. It broke my heart not only for the woman that
Lillian mentions - but because my husband, before we met, served
in war overseas and has told me about how he never received
letters or packages and how it affected him. Lillian's entry on
Anysoldier.com hits close to home.
La Muse customers go the extra mile to make everyone's day a
little brighter by the gifts they give them from my store.
I am asking you for that extra effort today. Please take a
moment to write a thank you card to our soldiers in care of
Lillian Berry - or go to AnySoldier.com and find a unit to send
a thank you note to. If you don't have the means please email
me and I will be happy to send you thank you notes and stamps.
If you are local and do have the means - please bring a donation
to the store. For donation ideas

Please remember that the United States of America is the home of
the free BECAUSE of the brave - and let them know that you
appreciate them - especially when they need it most -
TODAY.
