For over 50 years, The Campagna Center has provided safe havens for families in Alexandria. The Center supports the full life-cycle of the family: providing pre-school care for low-income families through Alexandria Head Start; day-care or primary grade students through Campagna Kids; tutoring assistance through Wright to Read; and meaningful volunteer opportunities for seniors to enhance their later years through RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program). The Campagna Center addresses the unique needs of struggling families through education, structure and love. Formerly the Alexandria Y, The Center was renamed after its beloved long-time director, Elizabeth-Anne Campagna, whose vision and concern for the needs of women and children continues to guide the vital programs and services that are administered today. More than 500 volunteers, 30 Board members and a staff of 160 ensure that her spirit lives on in Alexandria.
